My favorite movie is Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. In the movie the guests shrunk themselves to flow through the picture tube of the television. What if we could do this to our faucets? If you could shrink yourself to fit inside your faucet and started to walk (or swim) where would you end up?
Well, if you’re in Marietta you would end up in the Chattahoochee River (utilized by the residents on the eastern side of Cobb County and Marietta) or Lake Altoona (utilized by citizens on the west side of Cobb County and Marietta), our water supply sources.
This is significant when you remember that everything precipitation comes into contact with (think rooftop, parking lot, litter, etc.) could potentially end up in your drinking water supply. Although water is treated before it gets to you…an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
