What is Sustainability?

Sustainability is traditionally defined as “The ability to provide for the needs of the current generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.”  It is also defined as “the potential for long-term maintenance of wellbeing, which in turn depends on the wellbeing of the natural world and the responsible use of natural resources”. Sustainability is the capacity to endure….a contract that says to our children “I’ll take care of the environment so that you can enjoy it in the same manner as I do today.”

This two-minute animation from Real Eyes says it all. (Thanks to Strategies for Sustainability for sharing).
